Editor-in-chief at BR 1995-2017
From 1995 to 2017 the native Nuremberg is editor-in-chief of the Bavarian broadcast. Before, he was active as correspondent in the ex-German capital Bonn for the ZDF and later as vice chief and moderator of the news show “Heute-Journal”. He became popular for his comments in the news show ARD-Tagesthemen and for being moderator of the “Brennpunkt”-emmissions in the ARD.
He started his journalistic career after his studies of political sciences, history and German studies at the daily journal “Münchner Merkur”.
In May 2005, he was appointed as honorary professor in the department of Journalism of the Fachhochschule Amberg-Weiden by the Bavarian minister of sciences Thomas Goppel.
